 RTR Team Lead 

The purpose of the position is to support the establishment of a Service Delivery Centre (SDC) organisation, support the transition of existing Record to Report (RTR) activities as well as serve as the bridge between the senior leadership and operational finance team.

The RTR Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day RTR operations, ensuring compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards, and facilitating efficient period-end activities. This role requires a seasoned finance professional with a deep understanding of RTR processes, a background in GBS or shared services environments, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage and mentor the RTR Senior Accountants and Accountants.

The primary objective of the role is to:

  • Collaborating with the RTR Manager to align local RTR practices with standardized SDC processes and policies.
  • Providing hands-on leadership and guidance to the RTR Senior Accountants and Accountants, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate general ledger closure, emphasizing data quality, completeness, and adherence to global standards.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external audit activities.
  • Facilitating financial data preparation for tax filings and compliance, addressing cross-functional team queries.

Requirements:

  • 4-5+ years of experience developing ways of working and/or leadership of a function with strong focus on accounting frameworks
  • Strong accounting expertise including IFRS and practical application thereof
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards
  • Statutory and external reporting knowledge
  • Financial regulatory knowledge
  • Internal controls and compliance
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, especially MS Excel
  • 1+ years of managerial experience and proven experience with staff management
  • Experience from similar industry
  • Audit background welcomed

Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve daily transactional activities to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure the correct application of accounting standards (IFRS/country-specific) and internal accounting policies within the RTR team.
  • Oversee the daily posting of journal entries and manual journals when necessary.
  • Coordinate control activities to ensure compliance with the control framework and regulatory requirements, striving for automation where feasible.
  • Collaborate with Group Tax and other stakeholders to gather inputs, support tax calculations, and prepare reconciliations for tax compliance.
  • Lead period-close responsibilities, ensuring compliance with closing checklists (monthly/quarterly/annual) and timely completion of period-end activities.
  • Review GL accounts close activities, including unposted entries, recurring entries, and expense amortization, as part of the period-end close process.
  • Oversee the posting of prepaid expense amortization entries and execute allocation runs, ensuring accurate posting of allocation entries.
  • Coordinate the regrouping and reclassification of GLs based on inputs from user departments.
  • Ensure compliance of legal entity financial reporting with accounting principles, incl. review of management judgements, guarantees and impairments
  • Review the Trial Balance and ensure the timely generation of standalone financial statements and disclosures.
  • Support Group Finance in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and disclosures.
  • Provide assistance in Management reporting activities.
  • Support internal control reviews and external audits of reporting with coordination with the Manager RTR

Leadership & Development

  • Manage the team resources against skills, workload and availability aligned with RTR Manager
  • Monitor team performance through KPI monitoring and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Accountable for meeting and prioritizing own targets and those of reporting members within agreed standards and procedures.
  • Act as a member of the Finance management team
